Abstract

The restriction patterns of 18g rDNA Korean wild mice(Mus muschus subspecies) genomic DNAs digested with various restriction enzymes were analyzed by means of Southern blot hybridization. Wild mice analyzed were caught from 4 localities in Korea (Chinyong, Miryang, Kimch¢¥on and P¢¥och¢¥on), and 18s rDNA 0.6 kb of BHK(Baby Hamster Kidney)-21 was used as probe.
Restriction fragment length(RFL) of 18s rDNA treated with Bam HI and Eco Rl was 6.6 kb, respectively. and RFLs after digestion with other restriction enzymes were presented. On the basis of their autoradiagraphic band patterns. it is probable that all of 4 geographic strains were same subspecies. These results support that M. musclus-like wild mice(M. m. molossinus) imigrated Japan through the Korean peninsular, not directely from nothern China.
